Patchy drives the truck off a cliff and the mailman escapes. Patchy then suggests that they see what SpongeBob is doing for the holidays. The truck is driven madly until Potty notices there is literally a fork in the road, which gets stuck in one of the tires and causes the truck to spin madly. Potty the Parrot doubts they will make it to the North Pole, then argues with Patchy about which Christmas carol the directions to the North Pole are in. He then lies saying he gave the mailman the day off, but it is revealed that he stole the truck and said mailman is tied up in the back. He stops to wish the viewers a Merry Christmas and tells them he wanted to make sure Santa Claus got his letter. Kluger from Santa Claus is Comin' to Town) drives a mail truck through a snowy mountain range. You can get a DVD set with this special on Amazon for just 3.99.As the special begins, Patchy the Pirate (parodying the role of S.D. Overall, this is a very heart-warming, charming and funny special to watch during the holidays. Both Spongebob fans and fans of Christmas specials will enjoy it. This special is everything you’d expect in a Christmas special. Beyond that no complaints about this special. They gave Patchy extended screen time in specials like Atlantis Squarepantis and it ended up adding to the episode. I feel like giving him more screen time would have made the story more complete. They kind of set up a story for him at the beginning, but he never really gets any screen time until the very end. If I could change one thing about this special, it would be that i’d give Patchy the Pirate more screen time. They did get a lot right, but nothing is this world is perfect. Not only is this scene touching they also add a bit of humor by showing a donkey making donkey noises during this scene. My favorite scene is where Squidward realizes he was a huge jerk and decides to make things right. This balance can definitely be difficult to accomplish but they were able to do it. They did a great job of having the humor that you’d expect from an episode of Spongebob while having a good moral that you’d expect from a Christmas special. Santa than thanks Squidward for all his help. He pretends to be Santa to make Spongebob happy, but he tells the entire town Santa came and Squidwards gives them everything he owns as gifts. Spongebob gives Squidward a clarinet, and Squidward realizes he was being a huge jerk. Spongebob is very down in the dumps about this and Squidward takes this as an opportunity to mock Spongebob. Santa doesn’t come and the entire town is mad at Spongebob. The entire town breaks into song as they await Santa’s arrival. Everyone except Squidward, who believes this is all just a figment of Spongebob’s imagination. Spongebob then goes to the Krusty Krab to tell all his friends about Christmas.Įveryone is excited for Santa to come. Sandy goes on to explain every little detail of Christmas to him. He then sees lights on Sandy’s tree and confuses it with a fire, so he goes in and stops the “fire.” Sandy tries to explain that it is just a Christmas tree, but Spongebob doesn’t understand because he has never heard of Christmas. It then goes to Bikini Bottom, where we see Spongebob planning to attack Sandy with a karate sneak attack. He explains that they didn’t always celebrate Christmas in Bikini Bottom. The special starts of with Patchy the Pirate setting up the special. This special is loved by many, but does it deserve the praise that it gets? Christmas who? the Spongebob Christmas special was released on December 6, 2000.
